Reduce PDF size for email

Gmail caps attachments at 25 MB and Outlook at 20 MB. A compressed PDF goes out as a regular attachment instead of a cloud link.

Three steps

  1. 01

    Add a PDF

Drop the file in or pick it from your device.

  2. 02

    Pick a level

Move the slider and watch the size estimate.

  3. 03

    Download

Your compressed file is ready in seconds.

Use cases

Pick what the file is for and PDFKilo picks the compression level for your exact document.

Why PDFKilo

Fully private

Ghostscript runs in WebAssembly on your device. Not a single byte of your file reaches a server.

Accurate estimate

Before compressing, we sample the first pages and show the expected size for the chosen level.

No watermarks

No logos stamped on pages, no sign-up and no limit on the number of files.

Never worse

If compression does not help, you get the original back rather than a bigger file.

FAQ

Will the recipient be able to open it?

Yes. It is a standard PDF that needs nothing but a normal PDF viewer.

What are the attachment limits?

Gmail accepts up to 25 MB, Outlook up to 20 MB and Yahoo Mail up to 25 MB per message. Bigger files get turned into a cloud link.

Can I send a compressed PDF from my phone?

Yes. Compress it in your phone browser, download it and attach it from your downloads folder.

Why does my email still bounce?

The limit covers the whole message, and attachments grow by about a third when encoded for sending. Leave headroom: for a 25 MB limit, aim for 18 MB.

Will the email land in spam?

No. Compression changes nothing that spam filters look at. It is just a smaller PDF.
