Compress PDF without visible quality loss

The slider starts at a light level: images keep about 270 dpi, which is enough for print. Most of the savings come from optimizing the file structure and fonts.

Three steps

  1. 01

    Add a PDF

Drop the file in or pick it from your device.

  2. 02

    Pick a level

Move the slider and watch the size estimate.

  3. 03

    Download

Your compressed file is ready in seconds.

Pick what the file is for and PDFKilo picks the compression level for your exact document.

Why PDFKilo

Fully private

Ghostscript runs in WebAssembly on your device. Not a single byte of your file reaches a server.

Accurate estimate

Before compressing, we sample the first pages and show the expected size for the chosen level.

No watermarks

No logos stamped on pages, no sign-up and no limit on the number of files.

Never worse

If compression does not help, you get the original back rather than a bigger file.

FAQ

Is it truly lossless?

Structure and fonts are optimized losslessly. Images are re-encoded as high-quality JPEG, so the difference is practically invisible, but it is not a bit-for-bit copy.

Is the result still print-ready?

Yes. At level 15 images keep about 270 dpi, and commercial print usually needs 300 dpi. The difference is practically invisible on paper.

Why did the file barely shrink?

If the PDF already has optimized images or is mostly text, light compression has little to remove. Raise the level to 40–50 for a noticeable reduction.
